CREATIVE OPTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR >
The recent informal ‘Learning at Work’ week which we organised for the Leicester City Council proved a great success with large numbers of people attending the free events and enjoying the opportunity to learn new skills.
Many of the people who attended suggested that the sessions were a great way to deal with stress in the workplace and a wonderful opportunity to bring out their creative instincts or learn something new. It was also interesting to hear people say the informal sessions had given them the confidence and enthusiasm to look for more opportunities to try art and craft based subjects in the future.
With that in mind we have introduced a range of art and craft courses for those looking to be slightly more creative this year who would like to either learn a few new skills or improve the ones they already have. The courses take place at the Leicester Adult Education College on Wellington Street and the New Walk Museum. They cover a wide range of subjects for those looking to gain skills and enjoyment in arts and crafts.
The popular Art Workshops allow learners to explore and develop a range of approaches within drawing and painting as well as introducing form, line and tone using still life objects, colour and pattern.
Drawing and Painting classes encourage you to experiment and develop your own ideas and explore through practical work with a range of materials.
For those interested in fashion, the Illustration Fashion course allows learners to develop a range of approaches, including drawing and painting techniques. It offers the opportunity to develop individual ideas fully on paper and experiment with a multitude of options.
The Creative Embroidery course offers the opportunity to explore the exciting world of colour and guides you through the pitfalls to ensure you discover the best ways to use it as you develop your own individual piece of work (see picture).
An introductory course for beginners or those with some experience in Creative Glass takes learners through to the point where they produce and decorate their own functional piece of glassware by experimenting with techniques such as fusing and stumping.
All these courses and more are available this term. Further information on dates, times, costs and how to enrol can be found by clicking on the online course finder or calling 0116 233 4343.
