Upcoming Arts Courses >
We are offering those with a passion for drawing two exceptional opportunities with brand new one-day courses at the New Walk Museum this autumn.
Face to Face
Drawing a recognisable face of someone sitting in front of you is a talent that most of us would like to have. This Saturday workshop will enable you to develop a wide range of approaches to creating mood and atmosphere within portraiture. Learn how to produce a convincing likeness of the model using scale, format, composition, tone and colour. Portraiture will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 5th December.
Fruits of the Forest
Botanical Illustration is also a very popular and enjoyable hobby which many people find extremely relaxing in their spare time. In this one-day course inspired by Autumn Fruits we will be exploring and using berries and leaves of hawthorn, sloe, hips and blackberries etc. to capture the exciting colours, form and texture of the season. Using careful observation to explore botanical accuracy you will have the opportunity to work from direct observation using pencil and watercolour, (techniques will be demonstrated) from the berries and leaves provided. Botanical Illustration will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 31st October.
For more information about either of these courses, to enrol or for a prospectus you can call into the College on Wellington Street or you can ring the central information line on 0116 2334343 or click on the course finder for further details and a course information sheet.
